An RMA is a “Return Material Authorization”. If you have an RC4 product that requires a repair, upgrade, or updates, there are two different ways we may handle it:
1. Return for Repair. This is a typical repair procedure: you send the device to us, we do the work, and we send it back. If you are eligible for no-charge warranty shipping, we will make arrangements for a Fedex pickup at our expense.
2. Service Swap. At our discretion, we may offer to send you refurbished units in advance. In this case, you receive working devices before sending back your old ones. Our shipment to you includes an addressed bubble-pack envelope (for small items) or a shipping label (for larger packages) for the return of your old units by regular mail.
Either way, we will issue you an RMA number. Please indicate your RMA number on the outside of your package, and inside with the device(s).
Our Address
If you are not in a rush, the best way to return items to us is by regular mail/post. In the United States that is USPS First Class Mail. For faster service, we recommend Fedex Ground. For fastest service, we find Fedex Priority overnight to be the most reliable in our area.
We are located in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA:
Soundsculpture Incorporated 13604 Heathwood Court Raleigh, NC, 27615 USA Atten: James Smith Telephone 647-724-6570If you are in the United States, that’s all you need. Send your package to us with the RMA number on the outside, as well as with your units inside.
When using regular mail/post, apply clear packing tape over the entire address label to protect it. Particularly if you use an inkjet printer, the ink can run and become illegible if it gets wet during transit. RC4 Wireless is not responsible for returns not received.
The downside of regular mail is that no tracking or insurance is provided. After many years of RC4 returns being shipped back and forth by mail, no RC4 package has ever been lost in the mail. Nonetheless, there is always a first time. Though the risk is very low, the risk is yours.
Risk can be reduced by using a service that provides tracking and insurance. In this case, the declared value is also the insured value, so you should declare the replacement cost.
International Customers
If you are not in the United States, your shipment will be crossing international borders and is subject to customs clearance, tax charges, and possibly duty charges. The courier or mail service you use may ask for a Customs Declaration. It is very important that you declare the following:
- Returning to Factory for Repair - Made in Canada and/or Made in USA (check the label of your units) - NAFTA Compliant (if you are in Canada or Mexico) - No Commercial Sale, No Value (or a value under $100)If you are in Canada or Mexico you benefit from NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement. Because RC4 products are designed and built in the USA (or, prior to January 2012, designed and built in Canada), they are duty-free when crossing the borders between Canada, USA, and Mexico. In this case, you should include a NAFTA Certificate with the shipping paperwork in the shipping pouch on the outside of the package; this certificate must be with the waybill and other related documents. If you are shipping from elsewhere in the world, a NAFTA Certificate is not required.
We are not buying your devices back from you. Thus, we ask you to declare No Commercial Sale. Otherwise, we receive a tax bill based on the value you declare. If declaring a zero value is not permitted, please declare $100 or less for the entire package, regardless of how many pieces you are sending.
Fedex and UPS express (air) shipping rates include customs broker fees. Ground rates do NOT include customs fees. If you ship Ground from Canada or Mexico, you will eventually receive two bills – one from the shipper, and another from a customs broker affiliated with the shipper. The customs charge is usually based on the value you declare. The customs charge often exceeds the shipping charge.
If you do not want to use regular mail, we recommend Fedex. The rates for Express Envelopes and Paks is less than for a generic box shipped air-economy or 2-day, and includes all customs fees.
